Celebrating 30 Years of McHappy Day: McDonald’s Canada Launches Special Merchandise Collection in Support of RMHC

TORONTO – Excitement is brewing across Canada as McDonald’s Canada gears up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of McHappy Day on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. This year’s milestone event holds significant meaning, and to kick off the celebrations, McDonald’s Canada has collaborated with Peace Collective to launch an exclusive merchandise collection featuring beloved McDonaldland characters.

The collaboration aims to not only make customers look good but also feel good, with a portion of the proceeds from the Peace Collective merch line supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Canada. This initiative reflects McDonald’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

Over the past three decades, McHappy Day has become McDonald’s Canada’s largest charity-driven program, raising over $92.5 million to date. These funds directly support RMHC and local children’s charities across the country, providing essential assistance to families with sick children during challenging times.

“Across Canada, the impact of McHappy Day is felt every day by families who rely on RMHC to stay close to their sick child during the most unexpected and challenging time in their lives,” said Kate Horton, President & CEO of RMHC Canada. “Thanks to our founding and forever partner, McDonald’s, and this collaboration with Peace Collective, Canadians can make a meaningful difference for families in their community by ordering their favourite menu items on May 8 or by purchasing this limited-edition merch.”

In addition to the exclusive Peace Collective merchandise, customers can also show their support for RMHC ahead of McHappy Day by purchasing special McHappy Day socks and hearts. These items are available in-restaurant, at the Drive-Thru, through McDelivery®, and via the McDonald’s app.

McHappy Day itself promises to be a day of generosity and goodwill, with a portion of proceeds from every food and beverage purchase throughout the day going towards supporting families with sick children through RMHC chapters and local children’s charities across Canada.

As preparations for McHappy Day are underway, Canadians are encouraged to join in the celebration and contribute to this meaningful cause. Whether purchasing merchandise, participating in fundraising activities, or simply enjoying their favorite McDonald’s menu items on May 8, everyone has the opportunity to make a difference.
