McHappy Day 2024 Raises Record $8.9 Million for Charity

TORONTO – In a heartwarming display of community support, McDonald’s Canada celebrated its 30th McHappy Day by raising over $8.9 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Canada and various local children’s charities. The event, which took place nationwide, brought together McDonald’s guests, franchisees, and crew in a remarkable show of generosity.

The funds raised during this year’s McHappy Day will have a profound impact on families across Canada. They will directly support essential services provided by RMHC Houses and Family Rooms, including accommodations, food programming, mental health and wellness support, and more. These services are vital for families staying at RMHC facilities while their child receives medical treatment at nearby hospitals.

Michèle Boudria, President and CEO of McDonald’s Canada, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received during McHappy Day. “We are overwhelmed by the incredible support we received during McHappy Day this year as we surpassed $100M raised over the past 30 McHappy Day events,” said Boudria. “McHappy Day has a profound impact on families and children across Canada and would not be possible without the generosity of our guests, Crew and franchisees who make this day so special.”

Kate Horton, President and CEO of RMHC Canada, emphasized the importance of the funds raised in supporting families with sick children. “RMHC is an essential pillar of support for families with sick children across Canada,” said Horton. “Thanks to the generous support of McDonald’s Canada, restaurant teams, and guests on McHappy Day and every day, RMHC can continue caring for families across Canada so they can focus on what matters most – their sick child.”

In addition to the annual McHappy Day event, McDonald’s Canada continues to support RMHC through various initiatives year-round. These include Round Up, self-order kiosk and coin box donations, and directing proceeds from every Happy Meal® and RMHC Cookie sold to support families staying with RMHC in communities across Canada.
