William Prince Honoured with Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour at Canada’s Walk of Fame
TORONTO – Canadian singer-songwriter William Prince has been named this year’s recipient of the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour by Canada’s Walk of Fame. The award recognizes Canadian musicians whose work and artistry inspire positive impact within the music industry.
Prince, known for his soulful storytelling and moving lyrics, has released four acclaimed albums, building a legacy that began in Peguis First Nation and has reached some of the country’s biggest stages. His work, guided by a profound sense of gratitude, is widely celebrated for its grace and authenticity.
In a career filled with achievements, Prince has earned multiple JUNO Awards, a debut at the Grand Ole Opry, and the prestigious John Prine Songwriting Fellowship. His collaborations include performances alongside legends like Neil Young, Norah Jones, and Sarah McLachlan, as well as appearances on national television and two featured Tiny Desk sessions. Prince has also shared the stage with Canadian stars like The Tragically Hip and Serena Ryder, establishing himself as one of the nation’s most beloved musical voices.
Beyond his impressive body of work, Prince has used his platform to contribute to meaningful causes. His efforts include hosting “A Day to Listen” and composing an original song for the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, symbolizing his commitment to Canada’s cultural and social legacy.
Alan Doyle, acclaimed frontman of Great Big Sea, will honor Prince with a special performance of one of his songs at the Canada’s Walk of Fame Celebration. The event, set for November 20 at Toronto’s Liberty Grand, will also celebrate inductees like Dr. Frank J. Hayden and National Hero Danielle Campo.
