Candidate Nominations Closing Soon for Ward 25 Scarborough-Rouge Park By-Election

Candidate nominations for Scarborough-Rouge Park’s Ward 25 close August 15 at 2 p.m.

TORONTO — The deadline to enter the race for Councillor in Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park is quickly approaching, with nominations set to close at 2 p.m. this Friday, August 15.


How to Qualify as a Candidate

To run for Councillor, eligible individuals must:

  • File a nomination paper with their original signature

  • Provide proof of a qualifying Toronto address

  • Pay a $100 nomination fee

  • Submit at least 25 endorsements from eligible Toronto voters with original signatures

Nominations must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections City Hall office (100 Queen St. W., first floor, Permit Alley). The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the final day.



Campaign Rules

Prospective candidates are reminded that no fundraising or campaign spending is allowed until nomination papers are filed. All forms and endorsements must be completed on official prescribed forms with original signatures.


Third Party Advertiser Registration

Individuals, corporations, or trade unions intending to promote, support, or oppose a candidate in the by-election must register as a third party advertiser.

  • Deadline to register: Friday, September 26

  • Where to register: Toronto Elections City Hall office, in person

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays)
