Volkswagen’s Iconic Bus Returns to Canada as All-Electric ID. Buzz, Kicking Off with Virtual Auction for Charity

AJAX, ON – Volkswagen Canada is reviving a classic. The highly anticipated ID. Buzz, a modern, all-electric update to the iconic Volkswagen Bus, is finally hitting Canadian roads. To celebrate, Volkswagen Canada has announced an exclusive virtual auction, offering Canadians the chance to be among the first owners of the newly reimagined vehicle while also supporting a worthy cause.

Volkswagen’s latest release, the ID. Buzz, pays homage to its predecessors with a familiar retro-inspired silhouette paired with cutting-edge electric technology. Unveiled to much fanfare last year, this next-generation VW Bus has captivated Canadians with its blend of nostalgia, eco-friendly design, and modern amenities, making it more than just a vehicle; it’s a tribute to the spirit of exploration and freedom.

“Volkswagen is not just about cars, it’s about unforgettable experiences and memories behind the wheel,” said Edgar Estrada, President of Volkswagen Canada. “With the arrival of the ID. Buzz on Canadian roads, we’re excited to write the next chapter in our story with our VW community – all with an all-electric twist.”

The inaugural ID. Buzz auction will begin with a special summer camp-inspired launch event in Toronto on October 30 at 8:30 p.m. EST. The event, which will be accessible to fans across Canada, marks the start of an online auction benefitting Campfire Circle, a Canadian charity dedicated to bringing the joy of summer camp to children with cancer and life-threatening illnesses. Volkswagen is known for its commitment to community causes, and through this unique partnership, all proceeds from the auction will directly support Campfire Circle’s mission.

“We are thrilled to join our partners at Volkswagen Canada in launching a truly unforgettable vehicle,” said Alex Robertson, President and CEO of Campfire Circle. “We look forward to launching this unique opportunity for one lucky person to get behind the wheel of an iconic electric vehicle while giving a helping hand to the children and families we support.”

The auction, open to Canadians from coast to coast, will run until November 13, 2024, closing at 12:00 p.m. EST. Interested bidders can place their bids and learn more about the camp-inspired launch event at Bid on the Buzz.

With a legacy that began in 1952, Volkswagen Canada continues to lead in the Canadian automotive market, offering a wide range of vehicles through its 148 dealerships. The ID. Buzz now joins Volkswagen’s popular lineup, which includes the Golf GTI, Golf R, Jetta, ID.4, Taos, Tiguan, Atlas, and Atlas Cross Sport.

The launch of the ID. Buzz reflects Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation, creating not just a new vehicle but a bridge between the past and the future for VW fans across Canada.
