UniverCell Canada Expands to Mississauga with New Mavis Mall Location
UniverCell Canada Mississauga launch brings certified repairs and sustainable tech services to the GTA
MISSISSAUGA — Canadian-owned phone repair and device retail chain UniverCell Canada has opened a new location at Mavis Mall, marking its continued expansion across the country and its growing presence in the Greater Toronto Area.
The new store, located at 670 Eglinton Avenue West, Unit 2 in Mississauga, is the company’s latest addition as it scales to more than 17 locations across Ontario, Manitoba, and Quebec.
Founded by Afaq Ahmed Shaik, UniverCell began as a single kiosk in Winnipeg and has rapidly grown into a multi-province operation focused on device repair, retail, and sustainability.
Expanding access to certified device repair
UniverCell Canada operates as an Apple Authorized Independent Repair Provider, a designation it received in December 2024. This certification allows the company to use genuine Apple parts for out-of-warranty repairs, positioning it among a limited number of providers in Canada with that capability.
The company also emphasizes pricing transparency, stating it publishes repair costs online in advance, allowing customers to understand pricing before visiting a store.
Sustainability at the core of operations
A key component of UniverCell’s business model is its environmental focus. The company’s “Use More. Waste Less.” initiative highlights the impact of extending the life of electronic devices through repair rather than replacement.
According to the company, each repaired device can prevent approximately 50 kilograms of carbon emissions. With more than 25,000 devices repaired to date, the cumulative environmental impact represents a significant reduction in electronic waste.
Services and offerings
In addition to repairs, UniverCell offers certified pre-owned iPhones backed by a six-month warranty, as well as a lifetime warranty on screen replacements.
The Mississauga location is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., serving residents across the western GTA.
A growing presence in the GTA
The opening of the Mavis Mall store reflects broader growth in the region’s demand for accessible, affordable, and sustainable technology services. As device costs rise and environmental concerns increase, repair-focused businesses are gaining traction among consumers looking to extend the lifespan of their electronics.
UniverCell’s expansion into Mississauga underscores the continued evolution of Canada’s tech repair sector, blending retail, service, and sustainability into a scalable business model.
