Trudeau Reaffirms Support for Ukraine in Call with Zelenskyy

Ottawa, ONPrime Minister Justin Trudeau held a discussion today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reaffirming Canada’s steadfast support for Ukraine amidst its ongoing resistance to Russia’s invasion.

During the conversation, Trudeau emphasized Canada’s ongoing commitment to military, financial, and humanitarian assistance as Ukraine continues to confront Russia’s “unjustifiable war of aggression.” The discussion also touched on the recent crash of Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J2-8243, with both leaders advocating for a transparent and independent investigation into the tragedy.

As Canada prepares to take over the G7 Presidency in January 2025, Trudeau underscored the importance of international support for Ukraine and the continuation of sanctions against Russia. Both leaders reiterated the necessity of upholding peace and freedom in Ukraine, with Zelenskyy expressing gratitude for Canada’s enduring partnership.
