OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held discussions on Thursday with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to address the escalating crisis in the Middle East, focusing on the recently brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, as well as the ongoing humanitarian emergency in Gaza.

The leaders emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to protect civilians and enable increased humanitarian aid to the region. Trudeau reiterated Canada’s stance that Hamas must lay down its arms and release all hostages without delay.

The Prime Minister and King Abdullah II recognized the critical role of humanitarian corridors in delivering essential aid to Gaza’s civilians, with Trudeau expressing gratitude for Jordan’s leadership in improving access for aid deliveries.
