Trudeau and UK’s Starmer Discuss Ukraine and Security at London Summit

LONDON, UK  – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in London today during the Securing Our Future Summit, where Canada and European partners gathered to discuss security in Europe and Ukraine.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and emphasized the need for a just and lasting peace. They agreed that Ukraine must be directly involved in any negotiations regarding a peace settlement and stressed the importance of strong security guarantees to uphold stability in the region.

Beyond Ukraine, Trudeau and Starmer highlighted the longstanding relationship between Canada and the United Kingdom, built on deep historical ties, shared democratic values, and strong economic connections. They committed to maintaining close cooperation on global and bilateral issues moving forward.

The Securing Our Future Summit comes at a critical time as Western allies continue to navigate the evolving security landscape in Europe and reaffirm their support for Ukraine.
