Trudeau and Starmer Discuss Global Issues at G20 Summit

Rio de Janeiro, BrazilOn the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on November 18 to address pressing global challenges.

The leaders focused on areas of mutual concern, reaffirming their commitment to international security and stability. Trudeau highlighted Canada’s collaborative efforts with the United States and other allies to uphold global peace in an increasingly volatile world.

A significant portion of their discussion revolved around unwavering support for Ukraine amidst its defense against Russia’s ongoing aggression. Both leaders strongly condemned the conflict, emphasizing their solidarity with Ukraine.

The meeting also touched on the escalating violence in the Middle East. Trudeau and Starmer expressed grave concerns about the regional conflict, advocating for de-escalation and reiterating the need to prioritize peace and security in the area.

The two prime ministers pledged to remain in close contact to further advance shared priorities and strengthen their bilateral partnership. They expressed optimism about future opportunities to collaborate on global issues.

As the G20 summit continues, the focus remains on fostering international cooperation to address security, economic, and environmental challenges.
