Trudeau and Jordan’s King Discuss Middle East Crisis, Humanitarian Aid

Ottawa, ON – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan today to discuss the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, with a focus on humanitarian efforts and regional stability.

The two leaders reaffirmed the strong partnership between Canada and Jordan, emphasizing their commitment to supporting aid efforts and promoting stability in the region. Their discussion included the situation in Syria, with both countries engaging with the transitional government and advocating for an inclusive, Syrian-led political governance structure.

Trudeau and King Abdullah also voiced their deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, underscoring the importance of continued progress on the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. They also highlighted the significance of the upcoming Arab League summit in Cairo, Egypt, on March 4, 2025, in addressing regional challenges.

As the situation continues to evolve, Trudeau and King Abdullah agreed to maintain close communication on developments in the region.
