Toronto Seeks Public Input on Proposed Bylaw Regulating Demonstrations Near Vulnerable Institutions
Toronto, ON – The City of Toronto has launched a public consultation process to gather input on a proposed bylaw aimed at addressing the impacts of demonstrations near vulnerable institutions such as schools, cultural centres, and places of worship.
As directed by Toronto City Council, the proposed bylaw seeks to provide protections for these institutions while balancing the right to peaceful protest. Residents are encouraged to share their views through an online survey or by submitting written comments via email.
The online survey, which is available in 18 languages, will remain open until Thursday, May 1. Written submissions can also be sent via email to engagement@toronto.ca by the same deadline. The City has also announced that additional public and community discussions are planned for April, with updates to be posted on the consultation webpage.
