Toronto Residents Encouraged to Register for Winter Recreation Programs Using New System
Toronto, ON – The City of Toronto has launched its comprehensive lineup of winter recreation programs, encouraging residents to plan ahead by creating new accounts and setting up a ‘wish list’ in the updated registration system. With an extensive range of winter activities for all ages and skill levels, the city’s recreation programs offer accessible options to stay active through the colder months.
Starting December 3, residents of Etobicoke York and Toronto and East York will be able to register at 7 a.m., followed by North York and Scarborough on December 4. For the first time, early registration for Older Adult programs will open at 10 a.m. on November 26, providing seniors an exclusive opportunity to secure their spots in popular activities.
The City’s new registration platform includes a convenient ‘wish list’ feature, allowing users to browse programs in advance, save their choices, and expedite registration when the system opens. By creating an account and using the ‘wish list,’ residents can skip last-minute searches for available spots, streamlining the booking process.

Support is readily available to help residents navigate the new system, including in-person assistance at community and seniors’ centers, as well as virtual help sessions. A dedicated phone line (416-396-7378) is also available weekdays, with extended hours on December 2 and during registration days.
The City has also introduced “Reserve a Spot” for drop-in programs, with reservations opening weekly on Thursdays starting November 21. The system allows residents to view drop-in options a day in advance, enhancing accessibility for spontaneous activity planning.
For those seeking financial support, the City’s Welcome Policy provides recreation fee subsidies, which include credits applicable to CampTO programs and other seasonal offerings. Pre-approved residents receiving Ontario Works, as well as those meeting family income criteria, are eligible to apply. Those enrolled in the Welcome Policy are encouraged to activate their new accounts promptly to avoid delays in registration.
With nearly 16,600 winter courses and close to 155,000 spaces available, the City’s winter recreation programs cater to a diverse range of interests, including arts, fitness, and swimming. Residents over 60 will receive a 50% discount on adult programs, excluding private lessons, adding to the accessibility of these activities.
