Toronto Public Health Warns of Measles Exposure at Woodbine Mall’s Fantasy Fair

TORONTO – Toronto Public Health (TPH) is alerting the public to a confirmed case of measles involving a visitor to the city, with a potential exposure site identified at Fantasy Fair inside Woodbine Mall.

The individual visited Fantasy Fair at 500 Rexdale Blvd. on Sunday, March 30, between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. TPH advises that anyone who was at this location during that time may have been exposed to the highly contagious measles virus.

Measles spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, and the virus can remain airborne or on surfaces for up to two hours. Individuals can become infected by inhaling contaminated air or by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, nose, or mouth.

This marks the second confirmed measles case in Toronto in 2025, both linked to travel outside of Canada.

TPH is urging residents who may have been at Fantasy Fair on March 30 to:

  1. Check their vaccination records
The measles vaccine is usually administered in two doses: the first at 12 months and the second between ages four and six. Anyone born in 1970 or later who has not had two documented doses or a prior measles infection is considered at risk. Vaccines are available for free through primary care and some walk-in clinics.

  2. Monitor for symptoms until April 20
Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, a rash beginning on the face and spreading downward, and small blue-white spots in the mouth (Koplik spots). Anyone developing symptoms is advised to call ahead before visiting a healthcare provider and to wear a well-fitting mask to prevent further spread.

More details can be found on the City of Toronto’s website at toronto.ca/measles-fact-sheet.

Toronto Public Health continues to monitor the situation and urges residents to stay vigilant.
