Toronto Public Health to Award Nearly $1.5 Million in Grants to Community Organizations for 2025

Toronto,— Toronto Public Health (TPH) has announced the opening of applications for its 2025 Toronto Urban Health Fund (TUHF) grant program, providing nearly $1.5 million in project funding. The program supports community-based non-profit organizations focused on HIV prevention and substance use programs, particularly for individuals facing barriers related to language, culture, or geography.

The funding, which will be distributed to one-year projects from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, aims to assist organizations through three key streams:

  • Child and youth resiliency
  • Harm reduction
  • HIV prevention through sexual transmission

Eligible non-profits can now submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for funding. The deadline for submission is 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12. Applications are managed through the City of Toronto’s Grants, Rebates, and Incentives Portal (TGRIP), where interested parties can access the application form and relevant guidelines. The portal can be reached via the City of Toronto’s website: https://cot.smartsimple.ca/s_Login.jsp.

In addition, TPH will host several EOI Workshops throughout October to guide applicants through the process. Those interested can register for the workshops online at the Toronto Urban Health Fund EOI Workshop Registration website.

Commitment to Reconciliation with Indigenous Communities

In May 2024, the Board of Health directed Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health to redesign the Indigenous funding stream for TUHF, adopting an Indigenous-led approach. This redesign is currently under evaluation to ensure alignment with reconciliation efforts and community feedback. Further details on the updated funding stream will be shared as the process develops.
