City of Toronto Opens Seasonal Park Washrooms and Water Fountains for Spring
TORONTO – The City of Toronto has officially opened most of its seasonal park washrooms and water fountains as of Friday, May 2, kicking off a citywide rollout of spring and summer water amenities across its parks network.
Despite the chillier-than-usual start to the season, City crews began work in early April to service more than 1,000 public water assets, including washrooms, drinking fountains, splash pads, and dog bowls. Maintenance includes extensive cleaning, repairs, and safety testing to ensure the facilities are ready for public use.
“City crews have been able to get them ready on schedule again this year,” said Mayor Olivia Chow, noting that timely preparation helps residents enjoy the city’s green spaces all season long. Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik added that early access to washrooms and water fountains is essential to maximizing the park experience for Torontonians as warmer weather returns.
Over the next two months, the City will continue its phased opening of outdoor pools, wading pools, and ornamental fountains—along with lifeguard-supervised beaches and popular splash pads.
