Toronto Paramedic Services (TPS) officially welcomed 19 new Primary Care Paramedics during a graduation ceremony held on June 24, 2025. The event celebrated the completion of their rigorous orientation and training, marking the start of their service to Toronto’s 3 million residents.
Strengthening Emergency Response Across the City
The new recruits are part of a broader effort by the City of Toronto to bolster emergency medical services. As part of its multi-year plan, the City is working to hire 362 additional paramedics to improve emergency response times and ensure timely care for all Torontonians.

Mayor Olivia Chow congratulated the graduates, noting their essential role in the city’s healthcare infrastructure:
“You will play an invaluable role on the frontlines of Toronto’s emergency services. This new class of graduates is part of the city’s plan to hire 362 more Paramedics over three years so residents can get help faster when they need it most.”
Toronto Paramedic Services Chief Bikram Chawla added:
