New Wave Tribute Double Bill Returns to Toronto with High-Energy Show at The Duke Live
Marketed as “a show in the spirit of CBGB,” the event will spotlight two tribute acts celebrating some of the most influential bands of the late 1970s and 1980s, offering audiences a night of recognizable hits and dance-driven performances.
Talking Heads Tribute Opens the Night
The evening begins with Stop Making Sense, a Talking Heads tribute band fronted by vocalist Michael Bell, known for his work in The Bowie Lives. The performance will focus on recreating the band’s signature sound, with an emphasis on tight instrumentation, energetic delivery, and crowd engagement.
Organizers say the set will feature many of Talking Heads’ best-known tracks, aiming to recreate the atmosphere of a live dance floor experience.
Blondie Tribute Closes with Iconic Hits
Closing the show is Nothing But Blondie, led by Toronto performer Jaclyn Serre. The tribute act will bring Blondie’s catalogue to the stage, delivering a set built around the band’s blend of punk, pop, and new wave.
The performance is expected to highlight Blondie’s signature style and chart-topping hits, with a focus on audience participation and singalong moments.
