Toronto FC Crushes CF Montréal 6–1 in Historic Canadian Classique Victory
Bernardeschi and Corbeanu each score twice as TFC sets club record for goals in an MLS match
MONTREAL — Toronto FC delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, May 17, defeating CF Montréal 6–1 at Stade Saputo. This victory marks Toronto’s most significant win of the 2025 MLS season and their first six-goal game in regular-season history.
The match began with Tyrese Spicer scoring his first goal of the season in the 14th minute, assisted by Ola Brynhildsen. Shortly after, CF Montréal’s Joel Waterman received a red card in the 21st minute, reducing the home side to ten men.
Toronto capitalized on this advantage, with Federico Bernardeschi scoring in the 30th minute, followed by Brynhildsen’s goal in the 33rd minute. Bernardeschi added his second goal in the 55th minute, bringing his tally to five goals this season.
Although CF Montréal’s Giacomo Vrioni scored in the 64th minute, Toronto responded swiftly. Theo Corbeanu, celebrating his 23rd birthday, scored in the 66th minute and again in stoppage time, securing his first brace for the club.
This win improves Toronto FC’s record to 3-7-4, placing them 13th in the Eastern Conference with 13 points. Their next match is at home against Nashville SC on Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
