Too Many Pictures Not Enough Walls explores animation and visual storytelling

HALTON HILLS — The Helson Gallery is set to open a new exhibition celebrating animation, illustration and fine art through the personal collection of longtime Halton Hills residents Dale and Dave Cox.

The exhibition, titled Too Many Pictures, Not Enough Walls: The Art Collection of Dale and Dave Cox, runs from May 13 to July 12 and offers visitors a rare look into the couple’s extensive collection shaped by decades of work in the animation industry.

Animation and Fine Art Come Together

The exhibition features artwork, animation stills and illustrations connected to the Coxes’ professional backgrounds and creative influences. Organizers say the collection highlights the relationship between animation and traditional visual art while reflecting the pair’s lifelong passion for storytelling through images.

Dale and Dave Cox are also recognized within the local arts community for supporting artists and participating in community arts initiatives throughout Halton Hills.

Mayor Ann Lawlor praised the exhibition and the couple’s contributions to the community.

“This exhibition is a wonderful example of how creativity enriches our community. Dale and Dave Cox have made a lasting contribution to Halton Hills through their dedication to the arts, and we are proud to showcase their collection at the Helson Gallery,” Lawlor said in a statement.

Special Screening Planned for July

Visitors will also have an opportunity to learn more about the artists’ animation work during a special reception and film screening scheduled for Saturday, July 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will include screenings of short animated films created by Dale and Dave Cox at both the Helson Gallery and the John Elliott Theatre.
