Three Hamilton Paramedics Honoured with Prestigious EMS Exemplary Service Medal
Hamilton, ON — Three dedicated Hamilton paramedics have been awarded the prestigious Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Exemplary Service Medal for their over 20 years of unwavering service to the community. Jody Solski, Elaine Urbanowicz, and Scott Stevenson were recognized for their commitment to saving lives and their outstanding skill and compassion.
The awards were presented last night during the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs Awards Dinner. This medal is a distinguished honour in the field of emergency medical services, celebrating professionals who have shown exemplary conduct throughout their careers.

In addition to the three honourees, Hamilton Paramedic Service Chief Michael Sanderson was also recognized for his remarkable 50 years of service. Chief Sanderson’s career has been marked by leadership not only within Hamilton but also province-wide, as he has served as the President of the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs. His tenure and contributions have set a high standard for paramedics across Ontario and Canada.
Andrea Horwath, Mayor of Hamilton, expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of these paramedics, noting that their work reflects the highest level of dedication and professionalism. She praised Chief Sanderson for his decades-long leadership, which has had a lasting impact on the EMS community.
