Theatre Passe Muraille Unveils Exciting Fall 2024 Season Celebrating Diversity and Innovation

TORONTO – Theatre Passe Muraille (TPM) in Toronto is gearing up for a dynamic Fall 2024 season, promising an array of thought-provoking performances that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and innovation in theatre.

Kicking off the season is the RUTAS International Performing Arts Festival, now in its sixth edition, running from September 26 to October 6, 2024. This festival, in collaboration with Aluna Theatre and Factory Theatre, will showcase artists from across the Americas exploring themes of identity, displacement, and resistance under the theme “Personal Cartographies.”

Following closely is The Flin Flon Cowboy, an original autobiographical musical co-created by Ken Harrower, Erin Brandenburg, Johnny Spence, and the Flin Flon Collective. This compelling production, from October 19 to November 2, 2024, delves into Harrower’s journey as a disabled LGBTQ+ performer, set against the backdrop of a live country-western band.

TPM will also host the groundbreaking Performance and XR (PXR) Conference from November 8-10 and 15-17, 2024. This conference, the first of its kind in Canada, will bring together over 400 artists, technologists, and academics worldwide to explore the intersection of digital art creation and theatre using virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Adding to the season’s diversity is Erased, a dystopian play by Coleen Shirin MacPherson, running from November 20-30, 2024. Set in a post-climate collapse world, the play examines themes of revolution and environmental impact through an innovative, movement-based approach.

TPM continues its commitment to accessibility with sensory-sensitive performances, captions, and a relaxed environment for all shows. Community engagement initiatives, including workshops and panels, further cement TPM’s role as a hub for collaborative and thought-provoking theatre experiences.
