Steve Poltz Announces Spring 2026 Canadian Tour in Support of New Album JoyRide
Steve Poltz Canadian Tour Supports New Album JoyRide
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Steve Poltz is returning home with an extensive 17-date Canadian tour set for spring 2026, supporting his forthcoming album JoyRide. The tour kicks off April 15, 2026, in Nova Scotia and will take the Halifax-born artist through the Maritimes, Ontario, and Quebec, including a Toronto stop at the Horseshoe Tavern.
The Canadian run follows a period of strong momentum for Poltz, who has recently completed sold-out theatre shows and well-received festival appearances across Australia and the United States. Known for his engaging live performances and audience singalongs, Poltz will be bringing his stripped-down, intimate show to smaller venues across Eastern Canada.
A new chapter with JoyRide
The spring tour supports JoyRide, Poltz’s 14th solo album, recorded in East Nashville with producer Dex Green. The record embraces a deliberately raw and unfiltered sound, favouring live-off-the-floor performances over polished studio techniques.
According to Poltz, the sessions were designed to capture spontaneity and immediacy, with what he describes as “real humans making real noise in real time.” The album features a seasoned rhythm section—Bryan Owings and Christopher Donohue, known for their work with Emmylou Harris—helping shape its organic feel.
JoyRide also highlights Poltz’s collaborative side, with co-writing credits that include Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon and Grammy-winning songwriter Jim Lauderdale. Tracks range from high-energy singalong anthems to humorous, story-driven songs that lean into Poltz’s long-standing reputation as a musical storyteller.
A career built on connection and storytelling
A founding member of the indie-rock band the Rugburns, Poltz is widely recognized for co-writing Jewel’s breakthrough hit “You Were Meant for Me.” In recent years, however, he has focused heavily on solo work and touring, earning a reputation as a prolific live performer with a loyal international following.
His recent tours and collaborations—including work alongside Canadian artists such as Danny Michel—have reinforced his standing as a performer who blends sharp humour, thoughtful lyrics, and an easy rapport with audiences.
