Steelheads Fall to Wolves 5-3 in Game 4, Wolves Lead Series 3-1
In a hard-fought battle at Sudbury Community Arena, the Mississauga Steelheads suffered a tough loss against the Sudbury Wolves with a final score of 5-3 in Game 4 of the playoff series. With this defeat, the Wolves now take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, putting the Steelheads on the brink of elimination.
The game started with an early power play opportunity for the Steelheads, and they capitalized on it as MacDonell found the back of the net at 4:07 in the first period, assisted by Martone and Fibigr. However, the Wolves quickly responded with a power play goal by Konyen at 18:24, assisted by DeAngelis and Dvorský, ending the period tied at 1-1.
In the second period, the Steelheads regained the lead early as Harding scored at 1:13, assisted by Martone and MacDonell. But the Wolves unleashed a relentless offensive onslaught, scoring three power play goals consecutively. Goyette, McCallum, and Mania all found the back of the net, putting the Wolves ahead 4-2. Zidlicky managed to pull one back for the Steelheads at 15:00, assisted by Harding and Sharpe, but Yearwood extended Sudbury’s lead to 5-3 just before the end of the period.

Despite a valiant effort in the third period, neither team managed to score, leaving the final score at 5-3 in favor of the Wolves.
Throughout the game, penalties were abundant, with both teams engaging in physical play. Mississauga struggled to capitalize on their power play opportunities, converting only one out of four chances, while Sudbury found success on four out of nine power plays.
Goaltender Ivankovic faced a barrage of shots from Sudbury, making 40 saves on 45 shots. On the other end, Vondras stood strong for the Wolves, turning away 25 of the Steelheads’ 28 shots on goal.
With the series now leaning heavily in Sudbury’s favor, the Steelheads face a must-win situation in Game 5 to keep their playoff hopes alive. The team will need to regroup and come out with a strong performance as they aim to claw their way back into contention.
