Steelheads Dominate IceDogs with 6-2 Victory in Niagara
NIAGARA, ON – The Brampton Steelheads continued their strong season with a commanding 6-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs at the Meridian Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Porter Martone led the Steelheads as captain, while head coach James Richmond’s squad displayed offensive depth, with six different players finding the back of the net. Konnor Smith, Parker Von Richter, and Aidan Lane were named the three stars of the game.
Brampton struck early in the first period, with Lucas Karmiris opening the scoring at 5:35, assisted by Smith and Lane. Aidan Lane extended the lead at 13:31, and Carson Rehkopf added another at 16:32, giving the Steelheads a 3-1 lead after the opening frame.

Niagara responded with Ryan Roobroeck’s goal at 7:13 of the first period and Blair Scott’s tally early in the second, but the IceDogs struggled to generate further offense against Brampton’s defensive unit. Jack Ivankovic turned away eight shots in goal for the Steelheads, holding Niagara to just two goals despite multiple power-play opportunities.
The Steelheads continued to control the game in the second and third periods. Gabriel Chiarot extended the lead late in the second, followed by third-period goals from Kieran Witkowski and Smith, sealing the 6-2 victory. Brampton outshot Niagara 44-10, showcasing their dominance at both ends of the ice.
Both teams had three power-play chances but failed to capitalize. The game saw a total of ten penalties, five per side, with a physical battle playing out throughout the matchup.
With the win, the Steelheads add another two points to their season tally, while the IceDogs will look to regroup as they continue their campaign. The Steelheads’ next game will see them head to Brantford to take on the Bulldogs as they look to build on their momentum.
