“Relationship Remix” Documentary and Album Celebrate Love and Diversity
Winnipeg, Manitoba – Love knows no boundaries, and a new documentary and album aim to prove it. Relationship Remix, a compelling exploration of mixed-race relationships in Canada, is set to debut on CBC Gem this Valentine’s Day, February 14. Accompanying the film is Relationship Remix: The Album, now available on Spotify and Apple Music, offering a heartfelt soundtrack that mirrors the themes of love, diversity, and connection.
Produced by Chris Sharpe of Black Film Space Manitoba, Relationship Remix dives into the lives of five couples navigating the joys and challenges of intercultural relationships in Western Canada. The documentary provides an intimate look at their experiences, including an 18-year marriage between a Jamaican and Pakistani couple raising four children. Through candid interviews, viewers gain insights into how culture, food, music, and family shape and sustain their bonds.
The documentary highlights Canada’s growing demographic of mixed-race couples, showcasing their stories as a testament to love’s ability to bridge divides. Through its personal and emotional lens, Relationship Remix encourages audiences to reflect on how embracing diversity can create a more inclusive society.
Adding a melodic layer to the documentary is Relationship Remix: The Album, an original soundtrack created alongside the couples featured in the film. Produced by Chris Sharpe, Jay Evans, Fresh Kils, and Serj Bhatti, the album blends diverse cultural influences into an eclectic musical journey. With tracks inspired by the couples’ stories, the album features a lineup of Canadian artists, including Rukus 45, Crizelyn, J-Raj, Primo, MC Quota, Tiago Vasuez, and Black Lantern.
