Raptors Fall to Trail Blazers in Tight Contest, 105-102

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Toronto Raptors let a 16-point lead slip away Sunday night, falling 105-102 to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center. The loss marks Toronto’s 44th of the season as they continue to struggle in the Eastern Conference standings.

Portland’s Anfernee Simons led the charge with 12 of his 22 points coming in the fourth quarter, including four three-pointers. Toumani Camara added 21 points while Deni Avdija chipped in 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists, sealing the win with a pair of free throws in the final seconds.

For Toronto, Jakob Poeltl and Ochai Agbaji each recorded 19 points, while Scottie Barnes contributed 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals, including a highlight-reel halfcourt assist to Agbaji for an alley-oop layup.

Key Moment

The game turned late in the fourth quarter when Avdija threw down a dunk over Toronto’s Orlando Robinson, drawing a foul and converting the free throw to cap a 13-0 Blazers run. That gave Portland a 99-95 lead with just over two minutes left—an advantage they would not relinquish.

Late-Game Drama

Toronto had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Matisse Thybulle, making his season debut for Portland after missing 66 games due to injury, blocked Robinson’s three-point attempt, securing the Blazers’ win.

By the Numbers

  • The Raptors and Trail Blazers each grabbed 19 offensive rebounds, but Portland capitalized more effectively, outscoring Toronto 25-18 in second-chance points.
  • Simons and Camara combined for 11 of Portland’s 18 three-pointers, with the Blazers shooting 36% from beyond the arc.
  • Toronto shot just 40.4% from the field and struggled in the second half, scoring only 44 points after the break.

What’s Next

The Raptors continue their West Coast trip with a matchup against the Phoenix Suns, while the Trail Blazers return home to face the Washington Wizards.
