Raptors Break Free of Losing Streak Against 76ers, Scottie Barnes Leads with 27 Points
PHILADELPHIA – In a long-awaited victory, the Toronto Raptors halted a seven-game losing streak against the Philadelphia 76ers, winning 115-107 on Friday night at the Scotiabank Arena. This marks the Raptors’ first win over the 76ers in nearly two years, their last being a 119-109 triumph back in October 2022.
The evening saw a standout performance from Scottie Barnes, who led the team with 27 points, shooting 8-for-11 from the field and hitting 11 of 13 free throws. The third-year forward’s efficiency at the line was pivotal, helping Toronto hold off any Philadelphia comeback attempts.
Toronto rookie Jamison Battle contributed crucial points in the final quarter, scoring 10 of his 12 before fouling out. During a brief yet decisive two-minute stretch, Battle single-handedly extended the Raptors’ lead to 19 points—their largest of the game—with back-to-back three-pointers followed by a three-point play. Fellow rookie Jonathan Mogbo also impressed, adding 12 points, five assists, and nine rebounds to the effort.

In a display of depth and teamwork, Toronto dominated the boards, out-rebounding Philadelphia 54-28. The absence of Philadelphia’s star center Joel Embiid, who sat out with a sore left knee, likely contributed to this disparity in rebounding. The Raptors capitalized by outscoring the 76ers 56-30 in the paint.
Philadelphia guard Kelly Oubre Jr. led his team with 28 points, while Tyrese Maxey added 24. However, despite a strong start, Maxey’s accuracy waned, finishing the game 6-for-23 from the field and 2-for-12 from three-point range. Philadelphia’s shooting struggles were compounded by the absence of Embiid, leaving them with limited offensive options.
A notable moment came before tip-off as Philadelphia guard and former Raptor Kyle Lowry received a warm ovation from Toronto fans. Lowry, who played a vital role in the Raptors’ 2019 championship run, scored 14 points, adding nostalgia to an already electric atmosphere.
After two home games, the Raptors will now hit the road for the first time this season, facing the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
