Rabba Fine Foods Marks 27 Years of Giving with Charity Golf Tournament

Mississauga, ON – Rabba Fine Foods, the GTA’s neighbourhood grocer, brought together industry leaders, community organizations, and volunteers on Monday for the 27th annual Rabba Roots Charity Golf Tournament at the prestigious Brampton Golf Club. The event once again highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to community giving and support for local causes.

Rabba Roots Charity Golf Tournament 2025: 27 Years of Community Impact

The charity tournament is a cornerstone of the Rabba Roots Community Giving Program, an initiative dedicated to uplifting communities across the Greater Toronto Area. Through partnerships with local organizations, the program provides vital assistance in areas such as food access, health care, and emergency services.

This year’s event attracted thousands of attendees and over 200 corporate partners, reinforcing the broad support for Rabba’s mission. Funds raised will directly benefit organizations including Food Banks Mississauga and Trillium Health Partners, as well as other charitable groups supported by Rabba Roots.

The event also drew strong backing from industry partners such as Maple Leaf Foods, Coca-Cola Canada, Molson Coors, and Italpasta, whose sponsorships played a crucial role in the tournament’s success.

A Family Legacy of Giving

The Rabba family’s dedication to community support was on full display. Rick Rabba, President of Rabba Fine Foods, reflected on the milestone:

“It’s an honour to celebrate 27 years of community giving through our Rabba Roots Community Program,” said Rabba. “We wouldn’t be here without the tremendous support of our partners, who share our mission to support projects and initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives.”

Alongside Rick, Rima Rabba, Program Director of the Rabba Roots Community Giving Program, and Jack Rabba, Founder of Rabba Fine Foods, were on hand to thank attendees and highlight the importance of sustaining charitable initiatives through family and corporate collaboration.

A Festival of Golf and Giving

The tournament was more than a fundraiser — it was a celebration of community spirit. Tom Shurrie, Past President and CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, returned for his third year as Master of Ceremonies.

“This is the third time I’ve hosted this event and it’s a true pleasure to be in the company of leaders who value the importance of community giving,” said Shurrie.

The day’s events reflected the festival atmosphere the Southside Shuffle has become known for: music, camaraderie, and shared purpose. Attendees enjoyed a full day of golf and networking while supporting causes that address food insecurity and health care needs in the region.

Addressing Food Security in the GTA

Food insecurity continues to be a pressing challenge across Ontario. Food Banks Canada’s HungerCount 2024 report revealed that more than 1.9 million visits were made to food banks in a single month last year, the highest on record. Local organizations like Food Banks Mississauga play a critical role in meeting the needs of families and individuals, but they rely heavily on partnerships with community-minded businesses like Rabba.

By pairing its business success with sustained charitable giving, Rabba Fine Foods is helping to address these challenges head-on. The funds raised through the golf tournament will contribute to food programs, health initiatives, and emergency supports, providing direct benefits to GTA residents.

Looking Ahead

As Rabba Fine Foods continues to expand its presence across 37 neighbourhoods in the GTA, the company says the Rabba Roots program will remain central to its mission. Plans are already underway for the 28th Annual Rabba Roots Charity Golf Tournament in 2026, ensuring that this tradition of giving continues for years to come.
