Public Voting Now Open for Mississauga’s 2025 Urban Design Awards
City invites residents and visitors to vote for their favourite urban design project until August 31
MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga is calling on the public to help recognize the city’s best in architecture, public space and design by voting in the 2025 Mississauga Urban Design Awards. With voting now open for the coveted People’s Choice Award, residents and visitors alike are invited to cast their vote online before the deadline on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
From innovative buildings to striking public installations, the Urban Design Awards honour projects that demonstrate excellence in function, aesthetics and inclusivity. This year’s submissions span three main categories:
-
Urban Elements – standalone objects that enhance the public realm.
-
Private Projects – residential, commercial or mixed-use buildings showing design innovation.
-
Public Projects – publicly accessible buildings or spaces serving the community.
Voting is open to everyone—regardless of age or residency—and is available exclusively through the City’s official website at mississauga.ca/urbandesignawards. Participants are encouraged to review all nominated projects before casting their one vote. Votes cannot be changed after submission.
Mississauga’s Planning and Building Department suggests voters visit the nominated locations in person to experience the designs firsthand. Whether you’re drawn to a particular structure’s functionality or an element’s visual impact, the People’s Choice Award gives you a say in shaping the narrative of city-building.
The winners of the 2025 Urban Design Awards will be officially announced at a ceremony on October 23, 2025.
