Progress on the Hazel McCallion Line: What You Need to Know

Mississauga, ON – The construction of the Hazel McCallion Line, the eagerly anticipated Light Rail Transit (LRT) project connecting Mississauga and Brampton, is moving forward at a steady pace. As crews work diligently to bring this transformative transit solution to life, residents can expect both progress and temporary disruptions along Hurontario Street.

Construction Milestones

Mississauga South

  • Temporary Driveway Closures: Residents will experience driveway closures along Hurontario Street from north of Inglewood Drive to Indian Valley Trail. These closures, necessary for track installation, began on July 5 and will continue until July 31, 2024. Additionally, turning restrictions at the intersection of Mineola Road and Hurontario Street are in place from July 25 to July 30.

Mississauga Centre/Cooksville

  • Lane Reductions and Turn Restrictions: Significant work is underway for track installation at The Queensway and Hurontario Street, resulting in lane reductions and turn restrictions. This phase began on May 14 and will continue through August 6, 2024. Further north, similar measures are in effect at Burnhamthorpe Road and Hurontario Street from July 11 until September 19, 2024.

Mississauga North and Brampton

  • General Notice: Detailed updates for these areas are expected soon as construction progresses further north along the planned route.

Focus on Mineola Trackwork

In Mississauga South, the area around Mineola Road and Hurontario Street is seeing a surge in guideway and track activity. Crews are installing tracks that will form a critical part of the future Hazel McCallion Line. To minimize disruption to local schools, construction is being concentrated during the summer months, with the aim of completing the most intensive work before the school year resumes in September.
