Private Eyes West Coast: Global Greenlights New Spinoff Starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson

TORONTO – Fans of the hit Canadian series Private Eyes have reason to celebrate as Global has officially announced the greenlighting of Private Eyes West Coast, a new spinoff set in Victoria, British Columbia. The series sees Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson reprise their roles as Matt Shade and Angie Everett, embarking on a new chapter in their investigative careers on the vibrant west coast.

The announcement marks a milestone for Corus Entertainment, as it is the first time the network has commissioned a spinoff of one of its original scripted series. The original Private Eyes aired on Global from 2016 to 2021, garnering a strong domestic and international following. The new iteration aims to build on that success with fresh storylines, a new setting, and additional characters to be revealed at a later date.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Private Eyes West Coast spinoff, bringing Matt Shade back to the screen,” said Jason Priestley, reflecting on the return of the fan-favorite character. “The Private Eyes series has been such a global success thanks to our incredible partners and talented teams at Corus, Lionsgate Canada, and Piller/Segan, and I can’t wait for our audiences to see what surprises our new world has in store.”

The production will be overseen by Corus Entertainment’s Rachel Nelson, VP, Original Programming and Head of Corus Studios, alongside Lynne Carter, Director, Original Programming. Rachel Nelson highlighted the impact of the original series and the anticipation surrounding the spinoff. “Private Eyes resonated so deeply with viewers at home and abroad, and alongside our valued production partners, we’re so excited to see Shade and Angie now on the beautiful coast of British Columbia.”

Lionsgate Canada, which manages international distribution for the series, is partnering once again with Piller/Segan, the production company behind the original Private Eyes, as well as other hit series including Haven and The Dead Zone. Jocelyn Hamilton, President of Television at Lionsgate Canada, echoed the excitement surrounding the new project, stating, “We’re delighted to reunite with Corus and Piller/Segan for Private Eyes West Coast and bring back the talented acting duo of Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson. We can’t wait to reveal the surprises we have in store for audiences in this highly anticipated new series.”

Details regarding the additional cast, production start date, and storyline specifics are expected to be announced in the coming months. The series will be available on Global through major TV distributors such as Bell, Rogers, Shaw, Telus, Videotron, and streaming platforms like STACKTV and Amazon Prime Video Channels.

With the original Private Eyes enjoying widespread popularity, Private Eyes West Coast is poised to bring a fresh take on the detective duo’s adventures while capturing the beauty and intrigue of Victoria, B.C. Stay tuned for more updates as production unfolds.
