Prime Minister Trudeau to Attend APEC and G20 Summits, Aims to Advance Economic Growth and Global Cooperation

Ottawa, ONPrime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his upcoming participation in two key international forums aimed at strengthening Canada’s global ties and fostering economic growth. Trudeau will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima, Peru, on November 15-16, followed by the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 18-19.

In Peru, Trudeau will join leaders from 20 APEC economies, which together account for over 60% of global GDP. The APEC gathering offers a critical platform for Trudeau to advocate for Canadian interests within the broader framework of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. He aims to expand opportunities for Canadian businesses and strengthen economic partnerships across the Pacific, focusing on trade, investment, and job creation.

During the G20 Summit in Brazil, Trudeau will address pressing global issues, including economic inequality, supply chain resilience, and climate action. As Co-Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advocates group, Trudeau will emphasize Canada’s commitment to achieving the SDGs and call for accelerated global action to meet these targets. His agenda includes advancing gender equality and fostering international cooperation on climate change and economic stability.

“As countries work together, we can make life better for everyone,” Trudeau stated. “I look forward to attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and G20 Leaders’ Summit, where I will work on behalf of Canadians to secure good-paying jobs, grow the economy, and ensure every generation gets a fair chance to succeed.”

Additionally, Trudeau’s presence will reinforce Canada’s dedication to global security and democracy, with a spotlight on conflict zones such as Ukraine, Haiti, and regions in the Middle East. Throughout his engagements, he intends to promote peace, a stable rules-based order, and a prosperous future for all.

This trip underscores Canada’s active role in addressing global challenges, as Trudeau seeks collaborative solutions to ensure inclusive growth and a sustainable, resilient future.
