Prime Minister Carney Marks Christmas with Message of Reflection, Unity, and Hope

Prime Minister Carney Christmas message calls on Canadians to reflect, reconnect, and unite

Ottawa, Ontario — Prime Minister Mark Carney has issued a Christmas message to Canadians, encouraging reflection, unity, and compassion during the holiday season amid what he described as a fast-changing and uncertain global environment.

In his statement released on Christmas Eve, the Prime Minister said the holiday season offers an opportunity for Canadians to slow down, reconnect with loved ones, and focus on what truly matters.

“This is a season of joy for families,” Carney said, expressing hope that Canadians are able to find time to rest and celebrate together.

Recognising the Meaning of Christmas

The Prime Minister acknowledged the religious significance of Christmas for Christians across Canada and around the world, noting it as a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to recommit to values of service, forgiveness, and generosity.

Carney also reflected on the broader meaning of the season for Canadians of all traditions, saying the holidays serve as a reminder that hope can follow despair and that light can emerge from darkness.

A Message of Unity in Challenging Times

While recognising that the past year has brought significant challenges, the Prime Minister said Canadians have once again demonstrated generosity, resilience, and care for one another.

“We’re strongest when we are united, when we look out for each other, and when we take care of each other,” he said.

Carney concluded his message by extending warm wishes to Canadians across the country.

“Merry Christmas, Canada, from my family to yours.”
