Premier Doug Ford Attends Polish Community’s New Year’s Wafer Reception
Toronto – Ontario Premier Doug Ford joined members of the province’s Polish community at the annual New Year’s wafer reception hosted by the Canadian Polish Congress (CPC) on January 26, 2025. The event celebrates Polish heritage and the traditions that continue to thrive in Ontario, home to over 500,000 residents of Polish descent.
Held at a community venue in Toronto, the reception brought together Polish-Canadians, community leaders, and government representatives. The Premier expressed his gratitude for the contributions of Ontario’s Polish community to the province’s cultural and economic vitality.

The event featured a symbolic breaking of the opłatek, a traditional Polish wafer, as a gesture of unity and goodwill for the New Year. Guests exchanged warm wishes for prosperity and health in 2025 while enjoying cultural performances and traditional Polish cuisine.
Christine Hogarth, MPP for Etobicoke—Lakeshore, and other provincial representatives also attended, showing solidarity with the Polish-Canadian community. The event highlighted the importance of fostering multicultural connections and celebrating the diverse heritages that shape Ontario.
