Poeltl’s Double-Double Powers Raptors Past Wizards, Snaps Four-Game Skid

WASHINGTON — Jakob Poeltl delivered a dominant two-way performance, posting 21 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks to help the Toronto Raptors snap a four-game losing streak with a 112-104 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday night.

Immanuel Quickley matched Poeltl’s scoring output with 21 points of his own while adding seven assists. Scottie Barnes flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, as Toronto secured a much-needed win after struggling through a tough stretch.

Poeltl’s Presence Sets the Tone

The Raptors leaned on Poeltl early, as he racked up 12 first-half points to help Toronto take a narrow 52-50 lead into the break. His efficiency (10-for-13 shooting) and rim protection proved crucial as the Raptors held Washington at bay in the final minutes.

Closing Strong

Toronto entered the fourth quarter clinging to a slim lead but put the game away with a crucial late run. Ochai Agbaji threw down a driving dunk, and A.J. Lawson followed with a layup to extend the Raptors’ advantage to 108-98 with 2:20 remaining.

Despite a strong showing from Washington’s Jordan Poole (23 points) and a 15-point, 11-rebound effort from Bob Carrington, the Wizards couldn’t capitalize at the free-throw line, going 23-for-34 compared to Toronto’s 20-for-27.

Key Injuries & Bench Production

Washington suffered a setback early when Keyonte George exited in the first quarter with a left ankle sprain. Without him, the Wizards leaned on AJ Johnson, who scored 17 points off the bench.

For Toronto, the second unit provided timely contributions, with Agbaji and Lawson’s late-game baskets serving as the dagger.

What’s Next?

The Raptors (now 24-45) will look to build on this win when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
