New Museum Exhibit Brings Mississauga History “Out of the Vault” at Adamson Estate
Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore showcases rarely seen Mississauga history at Adamson Estate from January to April 2026.
MISSISSAUGA, ON — Residents and visitors will have a new opportunity to explore Mississauga’s local history this winter with the launch of Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore, a new exhibition presented by Museums of Mississauga at the historic Adamson Estate.
The exhibition runs from January 22 to April 5, 2026, and marks the Museums’ expanded presence at Adamson Estate, a landmark waterfront property with deep roots in the Lakeview and Port Credit communities.
Rare Artifacts on Public Display
Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore brings seldom-seen items from the Museums of Mississauga collection into public view. Featured artifacts include a wooden baby cradle dating back to 1889 and a Second World War-era armourer’s bench from a former local munitions plant, offering visitors a tangible connection to the city’s past.
In addition to highlighting the history of Lakeview and Port Credit, the exhibition includes artifacts representing all 11 wards across Mississauga, underscoring the city’s diverse neighbourhood heritage.
Family-Friendly and Hands-On
Designed with all ages in mind, the exhibition features interactive and hands-on elements, making it accessible for children and families. Museum officials say the goal is to encourage learning through exploration while making local history engaging and approachable.
Opening Reception Planned
To celebrate the exhibition’s launch, the community is invited to attend a family-friendly opening reception on Saturday, January 24, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Adamson Estate. The event will include activities and demonstrations led by Mississauga Library’s Makerspace, with refreshments provided.
