Oshawa Generals Triumph Over Peterborough Petes in Overtime Thriller
Peterborough, ON – The Oshawa Generals secured a 2-1 overtime victory against the Peterborough Petes at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday. The game, which drew 3,872 spectators, featured a dramatic comeback by the Generals, capped by a decisive overtime goal.
The Petes took an early lead in the first period when Caden Taylor found the net just 1:47 into the game, assisted by Brody Partridge and Matthew Jenken. Peterborough held their advantage through two periods, with goalie Zach Bowen making crucial saves to preserve the 1-0 scoreline.

The Generals responded in the third period, tying the game at 5:14 with a goal by Luca Marrelli, assisted by David Svozil and Tyler Graham. The game then progressed into overtime, where Oshawa’s Lauri Sinivuori scored just 25 seconds in, with Marrelli and Beckett Sennecke providing the assists, sealing the Generals’ victory.
Goalie Jacob Oster was a standout for Oshawa, making 21 saves throughout the game. His counterpart, Bowen, kept the Petes competitive with an impressive 43 saves but couldn’t fend off Sinivuori’s game-winner. Bowen’s performance earned him the first star of the game, while Oster was named the second star, and Taylor took third-star honors.
Penalties impacted Peterborough’s momentum, with three infractions totaling six minutes, including two delay-of-game penalties and a cross-checking call. Oshawa, despite receiving only one minor penalty, couldn’t capitalize on their power-play opportunities, going 0-for-3, while Peterborough went 0-for-1.
The victory extends Oshawa’s positive run under head coach Steve O’Rourke, while the Petes, led by coach Rob Wilson, will look to bounce back in their next outing.
The Generals will face the Petes again tomorrow at the Tribute Community Centre in Oshawa.
