Ontario to Build 12 New OPP Detachments and Regional HQ in Thunder Bay
Province modernizing police infrastructure to enhance community safety
Toronto — The Ontario government is making a major investment in public safety with the construction of 12 new Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments and a new regional headquarters in Thunder Bay, part of a broader plan to modernize law enforcement infrastructure across the province.
Solicitor General Michael Kerzner says the new state-of-the-art facilities are designed to meet the operational demands of modern policing and will better equip officers to respond to emergencies, fight crime, and serve growing communities.
“Our government is making record investments to fight crime and protect Ontario communities,” said Kerzner. “These new facilities will ensure the OPP has the tools and infrastructure they need to keep people safe.”

“This project demonstrates a shared commitment with our government to ensure the OPP is as effective as possible at keeping communities safe,” said Carrique. “Providing our officers, civilian and volunteer members with these modern new facilities will better position the OPP to evolve as we strive to be our very best at delivering on our public safety mandate.”
