Ontario Premier Doug Ford Appears on CNN, Condemns U.S. Tariffs

Toronto — Ontario Premier Doug Ford has publicly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian imports, warning of severe repercussions for both economies.

In a CNN interview this morning, Premier Ford addressed the American public, stating that the tariffs “will do nothing more than hurt U.S. workers and make Americans poorer.”

Ford further cautioned that the U.S. market could “go down faster than the American bobsled team” if the tariffs remain in place.

In response to the U.S. tariffs, Canada has implemented 25% tariffs on $155 billion worth of American goods, with $30 billion taking effect immediately and the remainder phased in over three weeks.

The escalating trade tensions have raised concerns about potential economic slowdowns and increased consumer prices across North America.

Premier Ford’s strong stance underscores the gravity of the situation and the potential for further economic consequences if a resolution is not reached promptly.
