Ontario Invests $1.2M to Upgrade Rotary Park in Orangeville
ORANGEVILLE — The Ontario government is committing more than $1.2 million to redevelop Rotary Park in Orangeville, a move that will modernize the community hub, expand access to recreational spaces, and support local jobs.
The investment comes through the $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), a province-wide initiative designed to revitalize local facilities and promote active, healthy living.
Building a More Accessible Community Space
Rotary Park, already a central part of Orangeville’s recreational landscape, is set to undergo major upgrades. Planned improvements include:
-
New tennis and pickleball courts to meet growing community demand.
-
Regraded and paved parking lots for improved access and safety.
-
Accessible pathways designed for inclusivity.
-
Self-cleaning washrooms for convenience and hygiene.
-
LED lighting and large shade structures to extend the usability of the park throughout the year.
These additions will transform Rotary Park into a vibrant, year-round space that serves families, youth, and seniors alike.

Government Support for Healthy Living
Neil Lumsden, Ontario’s Minister of Sport, emphasized the importance of such community investments.
“Our government is proud to support municipalities like Orangeville by delivering better services and creating more opportunities for people to stay active,” said Lumsden. “The revitalization of Rotary Park will provide safe, accessible and modern recreational spaces that will serve residents for years to come.”
The redevelopment is expected to not only encourage healthier lifestyles but also strengthen Orangeville’s ability to host local programs, community gatherings, and sporting events.
Local Leadership Welcomes Investment
Orangeville Mayor Lisa Post expressed gratitude for the provincial support.
“The Town of Orangeville is grateful for the provincial government’s support in the redevelopment of Rotary Park,” said Post. “This investment will allow us to make a host of upgrades, creating more opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected. Parks and recreation spaces are at the heart of strong communities, and this funding helps us continue building a healthy, accessible and vibrant Orangeville.”
Part of a Broader Plan
CSRIF is one element of Ontario’s larger infrastructure plan, which includes a $200 billion investment over the next decade to build highways, hospitals, schools, and transit while creating jobs and stimulating local economies.
For Orangeville, the Rotary Park project marks a significant step forward in ensuring that recreational facilities remain accessible and sustainable for future generations.
