Ontario Invests Nearly $8M in Film and TV Projects in North Bay
Ontario film and TV investment in North Bay will support 10 productions and boost Northern Ontario’s economy
NORTH BAY, Ont. — The Ontario government is investing nearly $8 million to support 10 film and television productions in North Bay, strengthening Northern Ontario’s screen-based industries and creating jobs across the region.
The funding is being delivered through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) and is part of the province’s broader strategy to protect Ontario’s economy by supporting northern industries, local talent and long-term economic growth.
According to the province, the investment will help showcase Northern Ontario as a competitive filming destination while supporting production companies, skilled workers and related businesses such as hotels, catering, transportation and equipment rental services.
Supporting Jobs and Northern Growth
Ontario’s Minister of Northern Economic Development and Growth George Pirie said the investment reflects the province’s focus on keeping people working and strengthening northern communities.
Since 2018, the NOHFC has invested nearly $84 million in 105 film and television projects in the Nipissing area, helping Northern Ontario remain competitive in a rapidly expanding global production market.
