Most Popular Baby Names 2024 Ontario: Olivia and Noah Lead the List Again

TORONTO — Ontario has released its annual list of the province’s most popular baby names, confirming that Olivia and Noah once again ranked as the top choices for newborns in 2024. The update, published December 16 by the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, highlights naming trends while also reminding families of the digital services now available to simplify early life paperwork.

According to provincial registration data, Olivia remained the most popular girl’s name for the 16th consecutive year, while Noah led the list of boy’s names for the sixth year in a row. The top 10 names for girls and boys in 2024 are:

Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement Stephen Crawford noted that these joyful milestones coincide with the need for parents to complete essential documentation—something the province has worked to make more convenient.

“Welcoming a new baby and choosing a name are joyful milestones, and we want parents to spend that time making memories, not worrying about paperwork,” said Crawford. He highlighted the ServiceOntario 5-in-1 Newborn Bundle, which allows parents to register a newborn and apply for their birth certificate, Social Insurance Number, Canada Child Benefits, and Education Savings Referral through a single online application.

The 5-in-1 service—used for approximately 135,000 births each year—was the first of its kind in Canada. Parents must register their child’s birth within 30 days to ensure timely access to critical documents and benefits.

Ontario has also expanded digital access to key services, including online child health card renewals, which now provide eligible families with instant temporary cards for immediate use.

The province’s updated baby name list reflects not only cultural shifts in naming preferences but also the growing role of digital services in supporting Ontario families from the moment a child is born.
