Nominations Now Open for Mississauga’s 2024 Civic Awards of Recognition

Mississauga, ON — The City of Mississauga has officially opened nominations for the 2024 Civic Awards of Recognition, inviting residents to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of individuals, community groups, and businesses who help shape the city. Nominations will remain open until November 8, 2024.

The Civic Awards of Recognition celebrate achievements in a variety of categories, highlighting those whose efforts have made Mississauga a better place to live, work, and play.

Award Categories:

1. Voluntary Community Service: This category acknowledges individuals or groups who have significantly improved the quality of life in Mississauga through their volunteer efforts.
2. Youth Community and Civic Engagement: Youth between the ages of 14 and 24 who have contributed over 140 volunteer hours to civic or community activities will be considered for this award.
3. Achievement in Sports: Athletes or teams who have won championships at the city, regional, provincial, national, or international levels will be recognized.
4. Achievement in Arts: Artists or arts groups who have excelled in competitions, juried exhibitions, or shows, along with those who have made notable achievements in academic fields, are eligible for this award.
5. City Volunteer Program: Individuals who have completed over 140 hours of volunteer work through the City’s volunteer programs will be recognized for their service.

Nomination Process:

To nominate someone, follow these steps:

1. Visit the City of Mississauga’s Civic Awards of Recognition webpage to review the eligibility criteria.
2. Submit a nomination by emailing civicrecognition.program@mississauga.ca with a detailed description of the nominee’s achievements. The submission should include:
   • The number of years the nominee has participated in volunteer or civic activities.
   • Specific dates the nominee worked on related projects.
   • An outline of the nominee’s responsibilities in each role.

Nominations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and only the first 100 qualified submissions will be reviewed.

Those selected will receive their award during an evening ceremony held at Mississauga City Hall on November 26, 2024.

Deadline for Nominations:

The nomination window closes at 12 a.m. on November 8, 2024.
