NB Grand Tour Raises Over $250,000 for Youth Mental Health and Community Programs in the GTA
TORONTO — The 13th edition of the NB Grand Tour made its Greater Toronto Area debut this past weekend, uniting nearly 300 employees, retirees, and volunteers from National Bank to cycle and run in support of youth-focused charities. The three-day charity sports event raised $256,267 to benefit 17 local community organizations and the Youth in Mind Foundation, which works to prevent psychological distress among teens aged 11 to 18.
A First for Ontario, A Win for Youth
Traditionally held in Quebec, this year marked the first time the NB Grand Tour took place in Ontario. York University hosted the event’s starting point, welcoming participants from across the region for a weekend of solidarity, sport, and service.
“We are proud to host the NB Grand Tour in the GTA for the first time,” said Eric Pak-Kin Chan, Regional Vice President, Personal Banking – GTA Central and East. “The Bank is committed to supporting local communities, and we truly believe these funds will make a difference in the lives of young people.”
Supporting 17 Local Organizations
The funds raised will be distributed among a diverse group of community organizations across the GTA, including:
-
Dreams Take Flight Toronto
-
York Hills Centre for Children, Youth and Families
-
Red Door Family Shelter
-
The Jean Tweed Center
-
Lighthouse Learning and Development Centre
-
Student Nutrition Ontario Central East
-
Beat the Streets, and many more.
The donations also support national causes such as Easter Seals Ontario, Shining Through Centre for Children with Autism, and the Canadian Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation.
A Movement Fueled by Purpose
Since its inception, the NB Grand Tour has raised more than $2 million for over 75 community groups. This year’s edition underscored the event’s growing impact and reach.
“This initiative is much more than a sporting challenge,” said Lucie Blanchet, Honorary Chair of the NB Grand Tour and Executive Vice-President of Personal and Commercial Banking at National Bank. “It’s a genuine movement of solidarity that brings good wherever it goes.”
Spotlight on Teen Mental Health
A portion of the funds raised will go to the Youth in Mind Foundation, which supports teens through online tools, school workshops, and awareness campaigns.
“1 in 3 young people shows symptoms of psychological distress. This is a troubling reality that highlights the urgency to act,” said Mélanie Boucher, Executive Director of Youth in Mind Foundation. “National Bank has been a key partner in our mission for over 10 years.”
