Mona Fortier Named Chief Government Whip
Ottawa ON – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the Honourable Mona Fortier, Member of Parliament for Ottawa—Vanier, will serve as Chief Government Whip.
Fortier steps into the role with extensive political experience, having served as Deputy Government Whip and holding several Cabinet positions throughout her career. Elected to Parliament in 2017 and re-elected twice since, she has been President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Middle-Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance.
Before entering federal politics, Fortier worked as Chief Director of Communications and Market Development at Collège La Cité and operated her own strategic communications consulting firm. Her community engagement has been recognized with honors such as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
As Chief Government Whip, Fortier is tasked with fostering collaboration within the government caucus, ensuring party discipline, and advancing key legislative priorities. She joins the leadership team at a pivotal time as the government continues to address pressing issues like affordability, economic growth, and job creation.
