MiWay Unveils Major Service Enhancements to Improve Transit for Mississauga Riders

Mississauga — MiWay is set to roll out significant changes to its transit services starting Monday, September 2, 2024, aimed at enhancing convenience and addressing overcrowding for commuters in Mississauga.

The new service improvements include the introduction of the Route 126 Burnhamthorpe Express, which will offer fast and efficient transit between the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and the Kipling Bus Terminal in Toronto. Scheduled to operate every 17 minutes during peak hours on weekdays, the new express route will complement the existing Route 26 Burnhamthorpe, which will see improved weekday and weekend frequencies. As part of this upgrade, the Route 76 Burnhamthorpe will be discontinued to eliminate service overlap.

In response to increased demand from students, MiWay is also enhancing services to UTM. The Route 44 Mississauga Road and Route 110 University Express will see increased frequencies, providing more travel options for students during the academic year.

To address overcrowding on busy routes, MiWay is increasing service on several high-demand lines. Effective September 2, more buses will be deployed on the following routes:

  • 5 Dixie (weekdays)
  • 26 Burnhamthorpe (daily)
  • 35 Eglinton (daily)
  • 42 Derry (weekends)
  • 43 Matheson (weekdays)
  • 44 Mississauga Road (weekdays)
  • 110 University Express (weekdays)

These adjustments come after additional service hours were approved by City Council earlier this year, reflecting MiWay’s commitment to improving transit experiences for its growing ridership.
