MiWay Expands Service to Dixie GO Station and Adjusts Routes for Summer

MiWay service changes will improve GO Transit connections while adjusting routes and introducing summer school service.

MISSISSAUGA — MiWay riders will see several service changes beginning June 29 as Mississauga’s transit agency adjusts routes, expands connections to GO Transit and introduces summer school service for students across the city.

The updates are designed to improve transit access, respond to changing ridership patterns and help residents travel more efficiently throughout the summer months.

City officials say the changes will make it easier for commuters, students and visitors to connect with destinations across Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area while continuing to support transit use as a cost-effective alternative to driving.

Route 51 Extended to Dixie GO Station

One of the most significant changes is the extension of Route 51 Tomken to Dixie GO Station.

Beginning June 29, customers will be able to use Route 51 to connect directly with GO Transit’s Milton Line service at Dixie GO Station, creating a more convenient transit option for commuters travelling between Mississauga and Toronto.

Passengers can board Route 51 at Platform 4 at Dixie GO Station.

MiWay is also increasing Saturday service on the route to improve weekend transit options.

Service Adjustments Reflect Ridership Demand

MiWay regularly reviews ridership levels across its network and adjusts service frequencies to align resources with customer demand.

As part of the latest review, several routes will operate at slightly reduced frequencies:

  • Route 7 Airport: Saturday afternoon service between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. will operate every 25 minutes instead of every 20 to 22 minutes.
  • Route 17 Hurontario: Weekday evening service between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. will operate every 20 minutes instead of every 14 minutes.
  • Route 57/57A Courtneypark: Weekday peak-period service will operate every 14 minutes instead of every 12 minutes. Two additional westbound trips will be added in the afternoon to help reduce crowding.

MiWay says these changes allow transit resources to be redirected toward busier routes while maintaining service reliability across the system.

Summer School Service Returns

With regular school routes suspended during the summer, MiWay will introduce six dedicated summer school routes and additional trips on existing routes between July 6 and July 31.

The temporary service will support students attending summer school programs at:

  • Father Michael Goetz Catholic Secondary School
  • Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School
  • Rick Hansen Secondary School
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School
  • St. Martin Catholic Secondary School

Regular secondary school transit service is scheduled to resume on September 8.

Encouraging Transit Use This Summer

MiWay officials continue to encourage residents to take advantage of public transit for travel throughout the city and the region.

The agency notes that riders using PRESTO can benefit from integrated fares and free transfers when connecting to other transit systems, including GO Transit.

With summer events, recreational activities and increased travel to Toronto expected throughout the season, transit remains an affordable alternative to driving, helping passengers avoid fuel costs, traffic congestion and parking expenses.

Additional schedule adjustments may be introduced later in the year as ridership patterns continue to evolve.

Residents can find route schedules, trip planning tools and service updates by visiting MiWay’s website or contacting MiWay Customer Service.
