MIWAY TO EXPAND EXPRESS SERVICE AND ADJUST ROUTES STARTING JANUARY 5

More frequent trips on busy corridors and revised routing aim to ease overcrowding and improve neighbourhood connectivity

MISSISSAUGA – MiWay service changes January 5 will introduce more frequent trips on busy routes, a revised routing on Route 35 Eglinton and schedule adjustments across Mississauga as the transit system responds to rising ridership and evolving travel patterns.

Expanded Service on Route 109 Meadowvale Express

To address sustained overcrowding, Route 109 Meadowvale Express will see a significant boost in frequency seven days a week.

Weekday improvements:

  • Core hours (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.): Service every 15 minutes or better (currently up to 20 minutes)

  • Evenings (6 p.m. to 10 p.m.): Service every 20 minutes or better (currently up to 25 minutes)

Weekend improvements:

  • Core hours (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.): Service every 20 minutes (currently up to 32 minutes)

These changes aim to reduce crowding for riders traveling to and from major employment areas, Meadowvale Town Centre, and the Transitway.

Revised Routing for Route 35 Eglinton to Improve Local Access

MiWay is revising Route 35 Eglinton to provide consistent eastbound and westbound service along Eglinton Avenue and Ninth Line, enhancing access to Ridgeway Plaza.

Three new bus stops will be added near Ridgeway Plaza:

  • Stop #3454

  • Stop #3452

  • Stop #3453

As a result of the change, eastbound service will no longer operate along Erin Centre Boulevard or Tenth Line. Riders in those neighbourhoods will still have travel options through:

  • New Route 35 stops (or existing stop #3518)

  • Route 9 Rathburn

  • Route 46 Tenth Line

Weekday Frequency Increases on Route 26 and Route 61

To support ridership growth during midday travel periods, two additional routes will improve weekday frequency from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

  • Route 26 Burnhamthorpe: From 16 minutes ➝ 15 minutes

  • Route 61 Mavis: From 16 minutes ➝ 14 minutes

These improvements aim to provide more reliable travel options along some of Mississauga’s busiest east-west and north-south corridors.

Schedule Adjustments Across the Network

MiWay will also adjust schedules on several routes to improve reliability as traffic and ridership trends evolve:

  • 18 Derry (weekdays)

  • 42 Derry (weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays)

  • 48 Erin Mills (weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays)

  • 71 Sheridan (weekdays)

Riders are encouraged to check updated schedules at miway.ca before traveling.
