MIWAY ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY SERVICE CHANGES FROM DECEMBER 22 TO JANUARY 4

Seasonal adjustments aim to match transit service with ridership demand as Mississauga prepares for a busy holiday period

MISSISSAUGA  – MiWay holiday service changes will take effect across Mississauga from December 22 to January 4, 2026, as the transit agency adjusts schedules to match expected holiday ridership and support residents traveling during the busy winter season.

The City of Mississauga confirmed the updates on December 11, noting that taking transit remains a convenient way to travel to shopping destinations, attend gatherings, or avoid winter driving conditions during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.

Adjusted Weekday and Holiday Schedules

All 300-series high school routes will be suspended throughout the holiday period, reflecting school closures. Other route adjustments include reduced weekday service on several days, modified service frequencies, and Sunday-level operations on statutory holidays.

Service overview:

  • Dec. 22–24: Reduced weekday service

  • Dec. 25: Regular Sunday service

  • Dec. 26–27: Regular Saturday service

  • Dec. 28: Regular Sunday service

  • Dec. 29–31: Reduced weekday service

  • Jan. 1: Regular Sunday service

  • Jan. 2: Reduced weekday service

  • Jan. 3: Regular Saturday service

  • Jan. 4: Regular Sunday service

Regular MiWay schedules will resume on Monday, January 5.

Route-Specific Modifications

On days with reduced weekday service:

  • 18 Derry will operate less frequently.

  • 101A Dundas Express will not serve the University of Toronto Mississauga.

  • 110A University Express, 126 Burnhamthorpe Express, and 135 Eglinton Express will not operate.

On days operating regular Sunday service:

  • 61 Mavis and 66 McLaughlin will see some trips removed.

Free New Year’s Eve Service

To support safe travel and encourage residents to celebrate responsibly, MiWay will offer free service from 7 p.m. on December 31 to 4 a.m. on January 1. Several key routes will run extended late-night service until 4 a.m., including:

5 Dixie
7 Airport
10 Bristol
11 Westwood
13 Glen Erin
17 Hurontario
23 Lakeshore
26 Burnhamthorpe
61 Mavis
66 McLaughlin
